The Employee Benefits Carrier Marketing Specialist (CMS) is a very important role at Decisely. Our CMS is responsible for the project managing the renewal and employee benefits enrollment process for clients. The CMS will obtain competitive analysis of employee benefit options, providing proactive support to Sales Team to win new business and Account Managers (AM) in the renewal process and ensuring enrollment files are processed accordingly with carriers/vendor partners.

Essentially:  the CMS works closely with carrier and vendor partners to negotiate quotes for coverage, secure competitive pricing, and rate guarantee terms.

WHAT YOU NEED TO KNOW ABOUT THE ROLE:

To excel in the Client Marketing Specialist role takes a person who is detail oriented.  As you already know, there are many moving parts to creating a comprehensive, accurate and useable analysis and proposal for renewal clients or prospective clients.  

 

Our goal is to produce a quality product that is accurate, easy to understand, and reflects the information requested by the prospect/client and the Client Engagement Manager.  We use technology to make the work faster, more accurate, and more comprehensive.

 

The person who is a great addition to our team has a basic understanding of the different types of health plans and networks.  He or she has strong analytical skills and is strong or even a power user of Excel. 

 

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Demonstrated experience with agency management systems, quoting processes, plan designs, and industry operations to effectively manage, maintain, and write assigned clients.
  • Attain and maintain industry knowledge of employee benefits, plan designs, legislation, and emerging benefit trends.
  • Partners with Sales Executives to provide competitive quote offerings for New Business.
  • Partners with AMs on the Renewal strategy for Book of Business for quote offerings.
  • Obtain spread instructions from AMs and Sales Executives to determine proposal components.
  • Obtain supporting documents to quote.
  • Manage and track quote responses from the carriers.
  • Assemble Proposals for Presentations in our proprietary software Luna.
  • Attention to details and ability to anticipate issues in the benefits quoting process and verifies all information (rates, benefit items, contributions & waiting periods).
  • Identifies and reduces discrepancies arranging for necessary changes/additions including rating and pricing issues.
  • Upload Renewals and/or New Business quotes data into our internal proprietary CRM TRAX.
  • Assist with carrier paperwork, as needed.
  • Works to ensure data integrity, adequate carrier submissions and sold plan data is correct for Open Enrollments & Implementation process.
  • Must be able to a fast-paced and voluminous workloads during our busy season (Q4).

  • Full knowledge of employee benefit plans including medical (including Medical Essential Coverage plans), dental, vision, life, disability, voluntary worksite plans and services required.
  • Display strong financial background and understanding of financial underwriting concepts as well as analytical knowledge related to Employee Benefits.
  • Broad knowledge of Health and Welfare compliance and regulations, including ERISA, COBRA, HIPAA, and ACA legislation.
  • Advanced knowledge of navigating the Internet as well as various Microsoft Office programs to include but not limited to Excel, Outlook, Word, PowerPoint, Publisher & Excel as well as all other required systems to maintain and manage job responsibilities.
  • Strong ability to multi-task and assign priorities as needed.
  • Ability to work effectively and efficiently both with and without direct supervision.
  • Must have high level of interpersonal communication skills, both written and verbal, to handle client issues in addition to sensitive and confidential situations regarding your support team.
  • Strong analytical skills enabling one to gather data and present it in a clear and understandable method to the receiving audience.
  • Position continually requires teamwork, demonstrated poise, tact, and diplomacy.

 

EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE:

  • SaaS technology support experience, preferred.
  • At least three (3) years of experience working in highly, visible client service role in a related industry, including insurance, benefits, broker/agency, technology/software applications.
  • Benefits Account Management experience is a plus.
  • College degree preferred. High school diploma with some college required.
  • Process-oriented and ability to work well with others.
  • Benefits administration and/or client management experience preferred.
  • Managing of diverse data sets with ability to compare data and identify data discrepancies.
  • Life and Health License strongly preferred (if not, experience is needed).
  • Valid driver’s license required.
